Findings of the JUSTMIG project
The JUSTMIG project (Sustainable and socially just transnational sectoral labour markets) ended in October 2025. The general objective of the JUSTMIG project was to provide innovative analysis and data collection on new labour market dynamics, and how industrial relations structures are adjusting to the increased presence of temporary migrant workers from other EU countries and candidate countries.
Key outcomes of the project include:
-
Nine comprehensive national background reports mapping temporary migrant labour in sectors such as retail, care, manufacturing, and food production: See here.
-
Nine policy briefs offering targeted recommendations to improve worker protection and strengthen industrial relations institutions: See here.
-
A final conference in May 2025 that brought together researchers, social partners, civil society, and public bodies to reflect on migration practices and explore policy responses.
In the frame of the project, our colleagues also collaborated with researchers in the Netherlands as well as Finland and Slovakia to publish two discussion papers:
- Diverging Migrant Labour Regimes and use of Temporary Labour in the Dutch and Austrian Food Industries
- Migrant Labour Regimes and the Reproduction of Segmented Long-Term Care Work in the EU
